Haul: MAC Marilyn Monroe Collection!

We had been so looking forward to this collection, but for some reason it seemed to have slipped our minds that it was being released so soon! When we received the email from MAC about the launch we immediately decided we had to get something from this collection, it IS Marilyn after all ;)

Luckily we were able to get our hands on a few items on Thursday night, however there were some inconsistencies with the website and the counters. Unfortunately we were unable to pick the products up ourselves, but we knew someone who was going to the city that was able to grab a few things for us. We wrote a list and D originally had her eye on the nail polish in 'Rich Rich Rich', but the people at the MAC counter had never received nor heard of the shade. It also seemed that the collection was out on counters before online. With that aside, here are the products we picked up.

I personally only picked up one thing from the collection. The fact that quite a few items were sold out and that the prices were pretty hefty made me able to restrain myslef and only get what I really liked. So, I chose the blush in the shade 'Legendary', which is a pale peachy hue with the tiniest touch of shimmer. I had looked up a few reviews online befeore I chose what I wanted, as the collection was released eariler overseas. To be honest, I didn't find any raving reviews about the collection, the stand outs seemed to be the highlighting powder and the lipsticks are always winners. I really don't need another highlighter (although I was very tempted!) and the liptsticks were gorge but a bit unwearble for me (I was also close to picking Pure Zen but its in the permanent line & wanted to swatch it in real life before I got it).

Although the blushes seemed to be reviewed as 'quite sheer' and 'nothing special' I didn't have anything like it and thought having something in a compact from the collection would be nice. I love the colour and the formula is really nice, I've only tried it a few times but found that when applying it with my Hakuhodo brush vs a synthetic, the bristle pick the colour up so well and give the blush a good colour pay off. But in saying that, its nice having a blush you can just slap on without having to be super light handed and blend like crazy. This is a really great one if your in a hurry or feeling a bit lazy (and who doesn't have those days? :)). I will say that in pics I saw online, it seemed to apply very true the the colour it is in the pan, a pale peach, but on me, it definitely applies with a pinkier hue which actually looks really close to my natural flush colour. I'm very pleased with my purchase and the collection is beautiful. The photos of Marilyn are stunning and the packaging, boxes and all is classic.

blush in 'Legendary' $45.00

As Brooke said I originally wanted the Nail Lacquer 'Rich, Rich, Rich' but unfortunately they are only selling it online in Australia and since we purchased our products from a counter I wasn't able to get it! Instead I was able to get the Nail Lacquer in 'Stage Red'. Stage Red is a Nail Lacquer with a 'cream' formula and has a deep red / berry color that is very Marilyn! It is opaque with two coats and dries extremely quickly, the fast drying time is something i have found with all my MAC Nail Lacquers. I was originally worried that this polish would look very similar to one of my other MAC polish from the 'Hey Sailor Collection' in 'Touch of Red'. But once I put them next to each other it was obvious that 'Touch of Red' is a much lighter red than the darker berry shade of 'Stage Red'.

'Stage Red' $24

I also purchased a lipstick from The Marilyn Monroe Collection called 'Deeply Adored'. Deeply Adored is a  deep berry / scarlet colored lipstick. I decided to go with Deeply Adored because I was looking for a deeper / darker lipstick and i'm happy with the choice I made.

'Deeply Adored' $38

Did you pick up anything from the MAC Marilyn Monroe Collection? Let us know in the comments, we would love to check out your hauls and reviews! X Darcie

Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine

The Korres lip butters have been very popular in the beauty world and I have had my eye on them for quite a while. I've seen them at various times while shopping in the city but just never actually picked one up. Luckily I received one for my brithday from Darcie, which you may have seen in my Birthday Treats post back in August. So I've been using it just about everyday since I got it and I love it. Its so smooth, creamy, moisturising and smells amazing what else could you want? Anything that goes on my lips has to be super hydrating because my lips are always dry, but this softens and gives them the moisture they need. The colour is a sheer baby pink which makes your lips just a touch lighter and pinker, which I love. The texture is buttery, hence the name! Its not too thick and goopy but its not thin and runny either, its just inbetween. Something I really adore about this product is the scent, it is lovely. It smells sublty of jasmine, but has a sweetness to it that makes it almost a vanilla-jasmine scent. If you don't like strong herbal/floral scents don't worry because this is not overpowering at all. I can't fault this product at all and I've put a pretty big dent in this pot, so I think I'll be purchasing one myself very soon! Highly recommend.
