Smiths Rosebud Salve: The review

Today I will be doing a quick blog post on one of  my favourite recent finds, Smiths Rosebud Salve. I was under the impression that nothing could beat my mac tendertones when it comes to lip balms, but I think the Rosebud Salve may be just as good! Or even better!! I bought my Smiths Rosebud Salve off adorebeauty.com for $12.95 AUD. I was so excited to try this, as I have heard so many great things about it and I am glad to say I wasn't disappointed! As soon as I applied the Rosebud Salve to my lips they become soft and any dryness I had before, was almost immediately gone. The Smiths Rosebud Salve contains petroleum jelly, like traditional Vaseline, although I found the Rosebud salve to be not as thick as Vaseline, which is a good thing as I don't like the feel of traditional Vaseline on my lips. The consistency of the Rosebud Salve is 'Jelly' like and it is an extremely sheer pink colour, which on the lips looks really natural. I love the scent of the Rosebud Salve, it smells like roses but is not overwhelming.  I have to say I am really addicted to this stuff! I don't think I have used another lip balm since I bought it! I cant recommend it enough  if you have the opportunity to pick this up, do it, you wont be disappointed!!

OPI: The collective haul

Over the last month or so I have picked up a few OPI polishes as they are now available at Myer. Previously OPI was only available at David Jones so to see that they had the full range at my local Myer has made them a lot more accessible- (don't know if thats a good or bad thing!). The shade 'The world is not enough' is from Brands Exclusive which Darcie got for me <3 I also decided to try 'Nail Envy' as I have very weak nails that always break and split. Two of my fav youtubers/bloggers Vivianna and Barbara both have loved it so I thought I'll have a go. I will let you know how I go with that!

Nars Mekong & Barbarella: The Review

Most of the time, when I want a new product, it's because I've seen it on someone else and the purchase of these two beauties were no different. I'd heard bits and pieces about the classic eye shadow 'Mekong' by Nars, but had never seen it in full effect. First I saw Zoella use it a few times and thought it looked amazing on her. Then, I saw Tanya Burr (exact vid!) use it in her annual birthday makeup look tutorial and bam, that was it, the Mekong seed was planted and I knew one of these days I'd have to get my hands on it. So on a trip to Chadstone Shopping center not long before Christmas, I came across Mecca and thought that today was the day.

Now the Barbarella tale. About two days before I went on this Chadstone trip, I was watching one of my fav bloggers/youtubers Vivianna (exact vid!). Whilst watching I couldn't help but think how lovely peachy pink her lips looked! I love people who list what they're wearing in the description box and Vivianna is one of those helpful gems. I scrolled down and what was the peachy pink culprit? Barbarella. Now, I wasn't intending on buying this (but then do I ever 'intend' to buy half the stuff I do?) but after picking out Mekong, I looked at the lipsticks and picked up a pretty peach that caught my eye immediately. The sales assistant serving me says 'oh, is that Barbarella? It'd look so nice on you!'. Of course in my head I was just thinking that she probably just wants to make the sale, but what the heck, I got it too.

Mekong is the perfect black-brown with gorgeous gold shimmer. Ridiculously rich and pigmented, stays on all day, basically perfection. I love wearing it as a liner for a subtle effect, or packed onto the lid and blended for drama. There is only one problem I have with this and other shadows I have that contain pretty sparkles. That is, when I swatch it with my finger you get all the glitter you should, but using my eye shadow brush just seems to pick up the colour and misses the sparkle. I think I need to invest in a good quality stiff shader brush... MAC 239 maybe?

Barbarella is really, really pretty. That's the best way I can describe it. Super moisturising formula that has a lovely sheen. Perfect balance between sheer and opaque, love it.

hope you enjoyed the post,
