YSL Volupte Sheer Candy 5 Mouthwatering Berry review!

I had seen so many people talk about the YSL Volupte Sheer candy lipsticks and I really wanted to try them. The packaging alone is extremly tempting and the whole concept of a moisturising lip colour that was more on the sheer side was interesting.

I wasn't planning on buying one anytime soon, but then I went to Melbourne Central shopping centre for some retail therapy, strictly for some new winter clothing essentials. But, I had to stop by Mecca Maxima (if anyone doesn't know, Mecca Cosmetica is similar to a Sephora or Ulta, but not as big). While browsing the shelves and thinking to myself how much cheaper these products would be in the states (haha), I came across the YSL stand. I adore how luxurious the packaging is for YSL products, it makes applying  your makeup so much more glamourous.

I was looking at the lipsticks and started swatching the Sheer Candy line and there were so many colours that I loved. I especially liked shade number 5 'Mouthwatering Berry', which is a deep, sheer berry, hence the name. I thought it would be perfect for not only winter but summer too. I looked at the price and it was $49, and I was actually pleasantly suprised. For a 'high end' brand like YSL, I was expecting well over $50. I decided to bite the bullet and get it and I'm really happy with my choice.

I don't really like to buy 'drug store' makeup to often, especially lipsticks because they are extremely over priced for what they are. For example, a Revlon lipstick can be between $18 to $25, and considering MAC lipsticks are $36, I would rather spend my money on something thats worth it. Most of the time, I prefer quality over quantity. So, this purchase was definately a luxury but I love it so much and will get more colours, maybe for christmas? haha.

So that was my long story, now the review! I LOVE this product. As I said before the tube is incredible, silver and gold metal, with the colour in the centre. Its quite heavy too. The product is smooth, sheer, but still really pigmented if that makes sense. The colour is really flattering and gives the lips a juicy, berry injection of colour. You could say its a more intense 'my lips but better' kind of shade.

Its really moisturising and as it wears off, it leaves a pretty flushed stain on the lips. It doesn't enhance the dry spots or the cracks in the lips either (my pet hate!).

Overall, I can't say enough good things about this product and if you ever feel like treating yourself, I suggest you check these out! Every girl deserves a little luxury in her life! ;)

Love, B x
